Evolution is a scientific theory that explains the emergence of new varieties of living organisms. Evolutionist believes that life has continually evolved since the origin of the earth, constantly changing, mutating, and adapting to the environment through processes like natural selection, symbiosis, gene transfer, and genetic drift.

With evolution, organisms arose through genetic modification and alterations, causing them to transition into what they are today. Also, the idea of natural selection, which states that organisms either learned to adapt and evolve to a particular environment, or they became extinct, allowing for the best organism to survive and go on reproducing. Instead of their being different kinds of the similar organism all created by God at the same time, evolutionist believe that these organisms are the intermediates that show a definitive timeline of gradual change among an organisms history. The origin of fossils from an evolutionary standpoint suggests that over time, as organisms die, they are slowly fossilized, with older organisms further down with the soil, and younger ones near the top. These fossils, showing how organisms from different parts of geologic time share similar characteristics and attributes is the key evidence for evolutionists and their theory of gradually changing organisms. The origin of the earth, as believed by evolutionists is quite different from creationists. As opposed to a supernatural being creating the earth and life instantly and simultaneously, some evolutionists believe that the earth was formed from a huge explosion within the universe that scattered large pieces of asteroids, which eventually turned into earth and the solar system. Over time, life slowly developed from the simplest of microbes, into the greatly diversified ecosystems today.
