Creationism believes that God created all living organisms when he created the earth, as described in the book of genesis in the Christian bible. They insist that no adaptations or changes were made to any species and that there were simply different kinds of organisms created which resemble each other. This seeks to dispel the evolutionary idea of transitioning from one organism to the other. Also another topic to which creationist seek to constantly explain is the origin of fossils. They believe that during the great flood, when Noah boarded two kinds of every animal onto an ark, the rest that were not saved perished and settled to the bottom of the water, where they were covered up by sediment and fossilized. Lastly, one of the more heated arguments is the origin of the earth. Creationism seeks to explain its origin through biblical text referring to the book of genesis yet again.

Commonly, creationists are categorized into two sub-groups:

  • Young Earth Creationists: believe in the strict interpretation of Genesis. Usually, stick to tight fundamental christian beliefs and deny any idea of evolution or its theory on the earth's origin
  • Old Earth Creationists: believe that the earth was created much earlier, which means that the interpretation of the book of Genesis is taken less strictly. Still, any idea of evolution is quickly dispatched.
